About Me:)

Elizabeth Simmons has a rich background in violin and piano music education, beginning at age 8 and continuing through High School where she studied under Dr. Lee Joiner, a Julliard graduate at the Blaire School of Music in Nashville, Tennessee.  There she received a music scholarship which included classes in ear training and music theory.  After graduating from the University of Utah, she took piano lessons from June Smith, a gold medal pianist from Toronto Canada.  June asked Elizabeth to take on her beginning piano students when she had to move due to her husband's poor health.  After teaching piano for a number of years, she began teaching violin as well. With over three decades of experience, Elizabeth has developed the art of teaching music in a way that is engaging, supportive, and effective. She is committed to taking each student from where they are, and giving them skills to take their playing to the next level.

Recently, Elizabeth has begun teacher training in the Suzuki Method, with methodology which helps children learn valuable skills at a young age, supported by their parent.  Group classes give children social experiences, and help prepare them for group performance.  For intermediate and adult students, Elizabeth focuses on refining tone, technique, vibrato, and expanding their repertoire.  Performances at retirement centers give these students opportunities to perform, but to do so in a safe environment where their music can brighten the lives of the residents.

In addition to teaching, Elizabeth has recently performed with the Cache Symphony Orchestra, has been a soloist for the New Horizons Orchestra, and is currently the founder for the new Mount Logan Symphony in Cache Valley.  She is the mother of three children, and soon-to-be, three grandchildren.  She is grateful to her husband for his unwavering support!
